DIY: Valentine's Mirror

The 36th Avenue has an adorable mirror DIY that would make for the perfect home decor and / or kid's project depending on how decorative you want to get with it!

My plan was a little bit different in the beginning since I was aiming for some type of cool frame.

This is what I used. An IKEA mirror-frame that I already had,

 DecoArt Paint, glue gun and Valentine’s plastic necklaces.

The first thing I did was paint the frame in white.

{ TIP: I always use a garbage bag to protect my table,

then when I’m done I throw the craft mess away inside of it. }

After a few coats of paint I added one light coat of Silver Glamour Dust from DecoArt.

I love this stuff because you get to see the white through it under the silver glitter dust.

So pretty!

While the glue gun heated up I took the time to cut a bunch of necklaces that

I found over at Big Lots. I bet the Dollar Store will have something similar.

To get the right size all I did was to put the necklaces on top

and cut it in each corner.

I ended with this…

The last step was to glue it!

DIY: Easy Fabric Frames

I love this easy decor idea because of how simple it is, how quickly it can be done, but also the fact that it's easily interchangable for different occasions.  You can put holiday fabric in these and make your home more festive, and then quickly change it back out once the holiday passes.  We have plenty of scrap fabric that would be ideal to upcycle into these great frames.

I found this cute frame at the dollar store; what a find! I bought four of them.

First, take out the glass inside and use it as a template. I used a pop tart box to make the squares.

Second, place the glass on the wrong side of the fabrics and draw a line. You will need about 1/2" extra around the line, so you can tape the fabric to the back of the cardboard.

On the wrong side of the fabric, place the cardboard that you cut out and tape the corners. (That way the corners will be less bulky.)


Tape the sides.


Put it in to the frame without the glass. I saved all my glasses, so in the future if I change my mind I can use the frame for something else.


It took me less than 30 minute to complete the project. I love quick and easy projects like this. On top of that the whole thing cost me about 4 dollars!

Hello?!! FOUND IT!

A little glossy turquoise spray paint please.

Oh my goodness, I love those details.
Okay, this frame would look fabulous on anything but I have something particular in mind.

Flip the frame over and measure ribbon to stretch from top to bottom with a little extra and hot glue (I'd use a staple gun if your frame is made of wood) the ribbon, evenly spaced (mine are about 2 inches apart) to the top.
Then, when the glue is dry, glue it (or staple it) straight to the bottom of the frame. Let dry and finally, attach all of those little girly hair bows that are floating around your house

Seriously, so easy my friends.

WA LA, you have a "funky bow holder thingy".
It's like art with a purpose... I love multi-tasking!
